Pioneer Sternal Cable
Details:The Pioneer Cable System is an improved alternative to the traditional monofilament sternal wire used to close median sternotomies. This system consists of multi-strand stainless steel and titanium cable that is tensioned and secured using Pioneer's unique Tension / Crimp tool. The cable is smooth and flexible, making plugging and unplugging easy and intuitive. The tensioner ensures that adequate tension is applied, while the tension scale ensures that each cable is stretched to the same degree before crimping.

Pioneer Sternal Cable is approximately 10 times stronger than standard sternal wire in terms of fatigue strength.
The tensioning system allows for consistency in pressure along the midline, allowing the cable to be adjusted to a value known as intra-operative.
The sternum cord wraps neatly around the bone. Thus, it potentially reduces the risk of implant failure that can occur after surgery.
